Health & Safety

Our Management team have a strong commitment to Health & Safety, with priorities given to preventing injury to both employees and members of the public. May Interiors are "Safe Contractor" approved and regular refresher training courses are organised for all our staff to ensure continuity of Health & Safety standards.

Suppliers

Our suppliers are chosen for the quality of their product and competitive prices and from those who demonstrate sound environmental practices. Our suppliers are vetted for their product quality and must show commitment with regard to both environmental and social responsibility. We also source new products and are always open to new ideas.

Environmental/Recycling Awareness

With wood as such an integral part of our business, we take environmental issues very seriously. Our environmental philosophy is to ensure that our suppliers source and supply with a keen responsibility towards the sustainability of forests and in the same manner we recycle waste wood and fuels wherever possible.

Partnering Contractors

We are currently partnered with Lloyds T.S.B. for Commercial fit outs, emergency repairs and planned maintenance. Remember there is always a solution to every problem Our philosophy is:

"RIGHT FIRST TIME - ON TIME"

Safe Contractor

At May Interiors we are exceptionally proud to be amongst the few Building Companies in Essex to achieve and hold the prestigious Safe Contractor accreditation certificate.

Safe contractor is a government approved scheme which is designed and set up to assure potential clients that it’s scheme members are adequately insured and that all relevant Health and Safety documentation is in order.

In order for us to achieve this high level of accreditation we must undergo a rigorous and thorough audit on our policies and procedures set out by the standards charter. We have to produce adequate insurance and demonstrate that our employment legislation is up to date and fair. We also have to supply references that are followed up and thoroughly checked.

Listed below are some of the topics that we are audited and assessed on annually:

  • Main policy statement
  • Work at Heights Regulations
  • Organisation charts
  • Health & Safety responsibilities
  • Communication with employees
  • Health & Safety training
  • Procedures & Method statements
  • Permits to work
  • Manual handling
  • Risk assessments
